Sam & Marlon

My finance, Will, and I adopted two cats from you last summer--a kitten named Sam and a 3 year old named Ron Ron (who we renamed Marlon). We just celebrated Sam's first birthday based on our estimates of his age, so I thought it might be a good time to send you a few pictures of them. We love them both so much--thank you forrescuing them for us!!

"Thank you" for ALL you do to help these animals and of course for Charlie! I can imagine how much you miss him! He is pure SUGAR and we adore him! It's a blessing to us that no one snatched him up at the last animal rescue event. You'll be happy to know that he really got cozy quick. You would think he was raised with us. Last night he was rolling around on his back on the comforter. He does act like a pup! Juanita

Juanita has become my soul dog. She's in my therapy office the whole day greeting clients and lending her calm, soulful energy to the healing process. She follows me from room to room, a quiet, loving presence. She's in the car, choosing to smoosh her tank of a body into the front bucket seat so she can lay her head on my lap vs spreading out in the backseat on her cozy blanket. At bedtime she's in my son's bed for good-night stories, in my arms under the covers reading before lights out. She runs through the snow like a gazelle, playing chase with my shyer dog Jude.Aggression during feeding was only the first day. I now feed her seperately, twice a day to fatten her up and she's been a gentlewoman since that first day when she let everyone know she was taking over as alpha dog. She's still very interested in the cats but it's not a problem because she responds to distractions when she gets really focused on sniffing them.
Juanita is the dog everyone dreams of having. Lucky me. Let me help you if I can to repay your gift to me. I believe in what you and Emily and your group of volunteers are doing. Juanita is not charity. The charity is in the absolute devotion she gives me every day for taking a chance on her.

THANK YOU!!!We absolutely LOVE her. I was nervous that she was too distractable when we had her outside at the shelter and difficult to train. Still, I KNEW this girl could not die, she was too sweet and pretty. I was so wrong about her! She knows a few commands already, which she didn't show at the shelter due to over-stimulation. She now pays attention and is already learning leash manners. On the way out the door people complimented her left and right. She is so calm, I have never had such an easy dog.
When we bring her back to be spayed on the 8th will we meet you?
Thank you so much, she is perfect for us in every way...and actually rescuing a dog is the greatest feeling there is.

Marchesa

Here's an update on Marchesa (formerly Silver), the gray year-old female we adopted from your event in front of Loving Pet (though I am quite sure you remember!)She has now filled out, & is a solid, handsome beast. We think she might have some Korat in her. She presented us plenty of challenges both physical and behavioral, and frankly there were a few times I wondered if I made a mistake. Thankfully, I stuck with what I felt was a real commitment, and she has rewarded us! I am hopeful the giardia is resolved - am taking another sample in today for testing. She has begun to trust, and bond, and is incredibly smart and hilarious. She loves to play with water - when anyone goes into the bathroom she races to the tub or sink and stands expectantly at the faucets. She loves socks - when I go to bed at night, she fetches every sock she can find to my bedside, and sits mewing next to them until I relent and play with her some more. She makes hilarious and constant use of her climbing tree, and plays for hours with little toy mice. Still a little aggressive biting hands in play, we are working on that.... She stays near us always, comments with little chirps on everything we do, and is becoming the wonderful, great cat we hoped was within her.
We are so happy to have her. Thanks for rescuing her!
Best,
Jodi Stern
